To Give Or To Receive

Gift Book

I just got a copy of this, and it's great - a good gift for a crafting friend, or to put on your own holiday wish list:

It's full of projects that you'd actually like to receive - lots of different techniques, varying yarn weights, and cool ideas.

I also just received an order from Little Knits. This book is, I believe, out of print. I know I'll never make anything out of it, but I love the folkloric "Heidi" designs. Who knows, maybe I can tackle some of the socks. Perhaps it is being a new goat owner... but the lure of the Alps was irresistible.

Although I had to order Little Knits' minimum of $25 to get the book, they actually emailed to tell me that they had recalculated my shipping charges to save me money from what I was originally quoted at the online shop. Got to love that! I chose some Wool In The Woods sock yarn to make up the difference in price.

Although they don't carry the book, you can see pics of all the patterns in it here.

Around Here On A Holiday...

... we have a long and leggy Emma lounging:

... we have too many eggs from our chickens and ducks, who seem to be in super-production mode:

... and we have a nice view from the kitchen window, after rotating the Premiere E'Net pasture yesterday:

We are also having (a day late - we had farm work to tackle yesterday!) our free range, organic turkey from our friends at Coon Creek Family Farm. One thing I am especially grateful for in our move to a smaller town is the abundance of organic producers in the area.

One thing I am not grateful for is that Eau Claire, unlike Milwaukee, completely shuts down on holidays. We expected our favorite Chinese or Indian restaurants to be open yesterday, but the entire city was a ghost town, and the only place we could eat was in a hotel. Not even McDonald's was open. In Milwaukee, everything stayed open, even on Christmas. Well, I guess it's nice that people up here get the day of to spend with their families or go hunting (the schools here let the kids off for hunting today if need be - I kid you not.)

Hope you are having a great holiday weekend filled with the things you enjoy most!
