Making Progress
Finally, some stitch markers for me! They are Tanzanite-colored genuine Swarovski crystals, on sterling wire with hand-wrapped spirals on the bottom, and handmade loops at the top (they're all a single piece of wire). I LOVE them!
They're awesome for using when knitting lace, because the length helps them not float under any yarn-overs. They also help me to remember which side is the right side (though they may get jostled around when I bag up my knitting project - but easy enough to re-set to "side one".)
I did find out that on the back side of the knitting, I have to bring the yarn towards me before slipping the marker, so that it doesn't become tangled in the stitch for the next row. Not a big deal, once you know to do it. I will have to do some "Don't Tangle Your Dangle!" instructions for the back of the slip I include with these when I send them out.
Anyway, here they are!
And here is a larger photo showing the progress I'm making on the Feather And Fan lace scarf in Artisan Merino Laceweight yarn:
Some of my friends and I have been discussing the pros and cons of this yarn. It is very soft, very thin, and very stretchy! I love the colors and enjoy working with it; however, I'm doing a "made-up" project, and not attempting to knit to gauge - that was a problem for some of my friends. I have another ball in the "Paua" colorway and am excited about starting it.
Fiddlesticks Knitting carries this yarn, and the "Creatures Of The REEF" [thanks, Jo!] shawl that several of us will be doing for an upcoming knit-along (interested in joining, if we do a new Yahoo! Group for it? E-mail if so!)
I love Fiddlesticks' service, and just found the samples of Eucalan that were included with my kits - woo hoo! Can't recommend the vendor highly enough.
Thank you for visiting! Your comments are always welcome! Have an awesome weekend and be sure to make time for your fiberarts and some relaxation!

You are a masterful knitter! Are you a knitter? brought to you by Quizilla
Surprise!
Wow! Blogger changed the text entry box and window! I don't know if I like this yet! Weird... ok, I'll give it a go...
Ok, three times now it tells me I have an illegal instruction with the link below, but it works. Maybe Blogger doesn't like off-site references any more? Hmmm...
Stitchmarkers!
I made two more sets of stitchmarkers for the Dance As Ever raffle:
Ballerinas
Pointe Shoes
... and two sets for my friend Kathy; Zuni tigereye bears for her, as she lives in the mountains with black bears:
... and a set of "manifesting a better future" markers for her friend, who is experiencing some life changes. This set includes a four-leaf clover for good luck, a flying pig because all things are possible, a $100 bill to attract prosperity, a treasure chest because life is full of surprising riches, and a pile of presents to remind her that she is the gift she gives herself.
My friend Enjay has reminded me to take it easy with the stitchmarkers so that I don't wear myself out - in addition to the ones I sold on e-Bay, I made a bunch for friends. I'm considering selling them from a website, as I will be doing again with my spindles... but I will get caught up with the ones I'm making as gifts for friends before I worry about that.
I'm planning to work on a small, light design that will work well for sock knitters. I will use the "rubber" o-rings for those, and some lighter wire and crystals. Stay tuned...!
I would really like to get a set of these made for myself which was the whole reason I started doing it!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Something For A Good Cause
These are some knitting stitch markers I created for the Dance As Ever ballet company's fundraising raffle. They are ballet tutus with orchid crystals and Czech glass beads. What do you think?
Do you have something to donate? Click the "contact" button at that link! Or purchase a raffle ticket! It's for a great cause. Director Leigh Witchel is not only a fabulous director and choreographer, he is a well-respected (and incredibly funny) knitting writer!
I hope you will take a moment and think about how you can use your personal talents - whatever they may be - to benefit the charity of your choice. It feels great - never more so than when things aren't going so well for you... that is when you need to give the most! I truly believe that when we give off positive energy or effort, it comes back to us tenfold.
Have a wonderful day helping someone!

Finally braved my slow Internet connection (when, oh when will they get DSL out here?!?!?), and put up some more stitch markers on e-Bay. They can be seen here. Thanks for looking - your comments are very welcome.
I'm working on more with the non-marring "rubber" rings now, for next week.
What fibery exploits have you been up to this weekend? Let us know in my Tag Board to the right!
