Waiting, Waiting, Waiting
I am waiting. Waiting for someone to want to see our house (why no calls? It's a nice house!) Waiting for contingencies on the new house to be met so the deal can be finalized (no, we do not want to store your semi-trailer on the property for you until you find someplace to move it, thank you very much.) Waiting to order chickens, sheep (hi Lael!), goats.
Waiting for our car to sell and DH's company car to arrive (it was supposed to be here today and I cancelled a vet appointment and waited all day for it. No car.)
Waiting for DH to stop messing with my computer while he's setting up his home office, so that I can catch up with my e-mail and RSS feeds.
Waiting for my garden to grow (the rabbits ate the beans this week, Denise!) Waiting to move so I can unpack all the dyes and "blank" fibers I was having so much fun with.
Waiting for Mr. Stanley's Cup to be over so I don't have to listen to DH yelling the game every night (blech).
My knitting is waiting, too. I'm avoiding waiting on seaming up the three baby sweaters I've finished. One, made in a grape Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran, according to pattern, is most definitely not going to have enough of the matching yarn left to seam with... boogers. Seaming is just not... not knitting, and what I need to be doing now is knitting.
Everything seems to be on hold and I'm itching for something soothing. Having to keep one's house clean for showings, while four dogs, two cats, two guinea pigs, two rats, and a now-working-at-home-husband live in said house, is not at all soothing, which is why we probably will not have much liquor left to move to the new house. (Pimm's Cup, anyone?)
I was going to make some socks or a hat out of the Navajo-plied/standard plied crazily colored rovings I've spun up over the last couple of months,
but the thought of having to look up a bit of info to get me started on toe-up or top-down (my favorite methods, but I often forget the basics) just left me flat. I need mindless. I need soothing.
This is soothing. It is soft, warm, plain, cozy, comforting:

Amazingly, I even got gauge with the recommended needle, and was off and running with minimal sobriety brainpower.
It feels good to be knitting again. Knitting is good while waiting. It makes waiting bearable. Well, it would... if I wasn't waiting for this packing-induced and ibuprofen-nonresponsive pain in my arm to go away. Sigh.
Anyway, this little garment is sure to keep some little one warm - the yarn is loosely spun and very soft. I think it will be very easy to get on and off a tot, and will keep the "chi" cozy - I heard from an acupuncturist that it's very important to keep the organs in the center of the body are warm to keep one's energy up. I can't wait to donate it someplace. Along with the other three sweaters. Because a little one is waiting, too. And I've so much to be thankful for, even if I am waiting for it.
