There Is A God, And S/He Reads My Blog
It has happened more than once. I write, here or in my journal, about all the things that are making me crazy, and it is as if the ears of the Universe have been opened. All moves seamlessly into alignment and all my troubles are solved. Whether it is the cathartic action of writing, or "giving it up" to The Creator Of The Universe, putting one's worries into words seems to help one release things enough to let the Universe sort them out without one's help.
Yesterday, our old car was sold to someone who happened to be driving through our remote country subdivision.
One hour later, the company car we'd been awaiting arrived... and it is even a good color!
The realtor called, and the people selling us the farm had indeed agreed to our repair contingencies and had signed off on them... our guy just hadn't wanted to call us late at night to let us know (believe me, dude, we were up anyway, worrying about it.)
The rabbits are no longer eating anything in the garden now that I have poured blood meal around the edges of it. Go, okra!
The computers are now networked properly and I can get on the Internet without a problem. (There is no Internet service where we are moving. I do not want to think about the cost of a satellite dish at the moment.)
There is no Stanley Cup on TV tomorrow night!
Why will I be glad not to have hockey on TV tomorrow? Because, stressed out from a long day of learning new words like sphygmomanometer, DH will have a couple of Sierra Nevada Pale Ales while watching the game and will then abscond with my digital camera and a carefully and fragile-ly wound center-pull ball of handspun to create what he calls...
...yarnvision. Go to bed, Honey.
My arm is better.
The new issue of Spin-Off arrived, and it is a really good one!
There are at least three really cool, inventive projects in this one: the Estonian sheep puppets on the cover, a center-pull ball wrist caddy, and instructions for handpainted self-striping sock yarn using a homemade warping board (finally!) Creative and imaginitive - things I haven't seen before. Excellent issue.
My GoKnit Pouch arrived (quickly! Inexpensively!) from SWAK. They have the usual colors, but...:
...note that it is PURPLE; and they have ORANGE, too!
All in all, I really didn't have to wait very long for things to get on an even keel. Thank You, Big Reader In The Sky!
All the worrying has made me somewhat irritable. My husband gave me a gentle reminder:
So I'm spending time learning about farm life:
And, after quizzing DH on unpronouncealbe (to me) things like exophthalmos, I thought I deserved a little treat, so while waiting for a pet having a minor surgery at the vet, I slipped out for these:
The yarns are Shelridge Farm Soft Touch Ultra (it's very soft!) fingering weight 100% wool (I have seen reports that it is Merino, and superwash, but I can't confirm that based on the label or their website). The pink-teal-lime is colorway 7106 and the cornflower-purple-pine-gold is 7606.
There's going to be an interesting documentary on TV next Tuesday, June 13th. It's called "Independent Lens on PBS: The Real Dirt On Farmer John". It's about a conventional-turned-organic farmer (and free-thinker) who was able to continue working the land when other farms around him went bust. He overcame the animosity of his rural community toward his unorthodox practices and was featured today on Public Radio's "Fresh Air" (see here). Explore the link to find recipes, too.
Here is a captivating video preview!

This documentary arose from John writing two books about his life experiences, putting all his problems down on paper. Like me, he had crummy days, he wrote about them, he waited, and it looks like things turned out ok for him, too.
I hope if you are not having a good day and if you're waiting for something to turn around, you'll try putting your thoughts into words. It's amazing what can happen.
